Previously, on August 31, 2026, Thinh Minh Commune Police received a report from people about an object suspected of being a bomb and mine in the riverbank area due to water receding.
Immediately after that, the Commune Police inspected the scene, reported to the Commune People's Committee and coordinated with functional forces to deploy a plan to ensure safety.
Functional forces cordon off dangerous areas, stretch ropes, place warning signs and arrange people to be on duty. People, children and vehicles without duty are required not to approach the area where objects are detected.
Through inspection and verification by specialized agencies, the object was identified as an GP 250LP multi-purpose air bomb. The bomb is about 1.2m long, 27cm in diameter, and weighs about 200kg.
The location where the bomb was discovered is in the riverbed area, the sandbed is eroded and the water level is constantly changing. These factors make access, collection and disposal difficult.
By September 8, 2026, Thinh Minh Commune Police will coordinate with functional units to ensure security, order and traffic safety during the process of collecting and transporting the bomb to the disposal site according to regulations.
Thinh Minh Commune Police recommends that people absolutely do not arbitrarily approach, touch, move or impact objects suspected of being bombs, mines, or explosives.
When detecting objects suspected of being bombs, mines or explosives, people need to keep a safe distance and quickly notify the Police or local authorities for handling.
