On July 14, Mr. Tran Thanh Nga - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dai Dong Commune, Nghe An Province said that local authorities had just discovered and handled a case of illegal encroachment on cemetery land.
On July 8, the People's Committee of the commune received a report from the people about a household in Hamlet 1 (old Thanh Phong commune) arbitrarily dumping land to level an area of about 40m2 of agricultural land being cultivated. The authorities, including the Commune Police, land and construction officers and the interdisciplinary working group, quickly inspected and discovered that Ms. N.T.H. illegally transported soil from the nearby hill area to dump.
At the time of work, the household owner could not present any legal documents related to exploitation, transportation, and land filling. The Commune People's Committee has drawn up a record of violations, requesting immediate suspension of operations and restoration to the original state.
On July 9, the People's Committee of the commune continued to receive reports that in the old cemetery area (formerly Thanh Phong commune), many newly built tombs with unusual signs appeared. Through inspection, the authorities discovered that some graves without information about the deceased, without documents proving the legality, and suspected of being built to illegally occupy cemetery land.
The commune government has drawn up a record, requiring related households to immediately stop building graves and restore the current status of public land. The case file was transferred to the commune police for further verification and handling according to the law.
Mr. Tran Thanh Nga added: After receiving information that someone had set up a fake grave to encroach on the land, the authorities immediately arrived at the scene. Through comparison, the authorities determined that this family only had 4 graves, so they were only allowed to build within the land area of these 4 graves, not allowed to expand, and the family complied and stopped the violation. Through this incident, we learn from the experience that immediately after receiving information about law violations, the authorities were present immediately, handling them accurately and thoroughly, not allowing it to be prolonged".
The People's Committee of Dai Dong commune affirmed that all violations of land use planning and construction order will be strictly handled. Local authorities call on people to raise awareness and not assist in the act of illegally occupying public land in any form.
