Quang Binh - A company in Hon La Seaport Industrial Park was fined nearly 100 million VND for discharging untreated waste into the environment.

On October 31, the Economic Police Department, Quang Binh Provincial Police, said that it had just advised the provincial police leaders to issue a decision to impose an administrative fine of VND97.2 million for violations in the field of environmental protection.

The penalized unit is Bao Dat Thanh Trading Joint Stock Company - Branch of Quang Binh Raw Wood Processing Factory (company), at Hon La Seaport Industrial Park (Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district) for violating environmental protection.

Previously, at 9:15 a.m. on October 18, the Police Department for Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, Smuggling, and Environment coordinated with the Hon La Economic Zone Management Board to inspect the company's compliance with environmental protection laws.

The company is headed by Ms. Cao Thi Thanh (born in 1967, permanent resident in Quan Bau ward, Vinh city, Nghe An province), operating under the authorization of Bao Dat Thanh Trading Joint Stock Company.

The inspection results found that although the company had invested in building a system to treat production and domestic waste, it did not use it and instead installed other discharge lines to discharge untreated waste, exceeding the permitted technical standards, into the natural environment.
