The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister requested an urgent investigation into the cause of the fire at Doc Lap apartment building (HCMC) that killed 8 people.

On July 7, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed and issued Official Dispatch No. 105/CD-TTg on the fire at Apartment 019, Apartment 020 of Doc Lap apartment building, Doc Lap street, Phu Tho Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).

The dispatch was sent to Ministers of Ministries, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, agencies under the Government; Chairmen of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committees; Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities.

At about 9:54 p.m. on July 6, a fire broke out at apartment 019, apartment 020 of Doc Lap apartment building, Doc Lap street, Phu Tho Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh City, causing particularly serious consequences, killing 8 people.

On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh sent their condolences to the relatives and families of the victims and gave the following instructions:

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the organization of kind, thoughtful visits, timely encouragement, material and spiritual support, creating the best conditions to soon stabilize the lives of the victims' families.

Closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to urgently investigate the cause of the fire and strictly handle violations (if any) by related organizations and individuals in accordance with the provisions of law.

Inspect, classify, and guide the immediate application of solutions to strengthen fire prevention and fighting for houses and establishments with high risk of fire and explosion, resolutely handle violations according to the provisions of law.

At the same time, promote propaganda and guidance on fire prevention, fighting, rescue and relief skills for people in a practical and effective manner, minimizing damage caused by fire and explosion in the area.
