On August 7, Mr. Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister - inspected the construction site of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge investment project (connecting the two provinces of Dong Thap and Vinh Long).
A representative of My Thuan Project Management Board (project investor) said that up to now, the overall progress of the project has reached 99.55%; the road section has been basically completed; the system of installing traffic safety signs is being completed; 6/6 bridges on the route have been completed.
The construction unit is completing the system of installing traffic safety signs. It is expected that on August 12, the meeting will approve the Inspection Council for the acceptance of the project. After that, it will be handed over to Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces. On August 19, it was inaugurated and put into operation.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha acknowledged the efforts of the construction unit to complete the project 5 months ahead of schedule, showing the capacity of the engineering team. The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the Ministry of Construction have a mechanism to consider rewarding units according to regulations.
Regarding the role of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that transportation is the backbone connecting economic regions. When the infrastructure is connected, it will promote trade, investment and create conditions for people to enjoy the fruits of development. Rach Mieu 2 Bridge not only connects the two localities but also contributes to regional connectivity.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is over 17km long, with a total investment of over VND6,810 billion. In which, the main bridge is designed with a cable-stayed structure, nearly 2km long. The project starts at Dong Tam intersection (intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province (now Long Hung commune, Dong Thap province); the end point intersects with National Highway 60, in Ben Tre city, Ben Tre province (now Ben Tre ward, Vinh Long province). The project started in March 2022; expected to be completed in August 2025.
