The Standing Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (An Giang Provincial Civil Defense Command) has just announced the operation of Cai Lon, Cai Be, and Xeo Ro culverts to prevent and combat storm No. 13 Kalmaegi from November 6 to 10.
In order to support flood drainage to protect agricultural production, aquaculture, and people's economic life in the project area, from November 6 to 10, Cai Lon culvert will operate at most from 9/11 to 11/11 valve gates, Cai Be culvert will close 2/2 valve gates (Xeo Ro culvert will operate when requested by the locality).
The Natural Disaster Prevention Standing Committee informs people, organizations and individuals in the area to be proactive in production, business and daily activities. At the same time, it is recommended that the People's Committees of communes located downstream of works ( toward the sea) guide and support people to raise embankments (made of soil, materials on site) in vulnerable areas, low elevations, close regulating valve gates (if any) at ditches to collect water to prevent water from overflowing and draining water; minimize flooding, protect property, houses, fields, and gardens of the people.
People living along the Cai Lon and Cai Be rivers and Xeo Ro canals closely monitor the water level situation, proactively prevent and combat flooding, raise furniture or move to a safe place during the sewer operation. Organizations and individuals with watercraft when traveling through the project must strictly comply with regulations on inland waterway traffic safety, signal and signaling systems (plate signs, lights, sounds) and the guidance of the regulating force at the site of the project area.
