According to Mr. Nguyen Le Quoc Toan - Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee, the recommendation to agencies, units, people, and tourists aims to raise vigilance, proactively prevent, and join hands to effectively respond to natural disasters to protect the safety of life and property.
According to the An Giang Hydrometeorological Station, in the last months of 2025, the province will continue to be affected by extreme weather patterns. The activity of storms and tropical depressions in the East Sea from August to October 2025 tends to be equivalent to the average of many years, with about 6 - 8 storms, of which 2 - 4 storms are likely to directly affect the mainland.
In the province and Phu Quoc area, there is a possibility of many widespread heavy rains, accompanied by dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind, especially in coastal areas and at sea, there may be large waves.
In order to proactively prevent, respond and minimize damage caused by natural disasters in the last months of 2025, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone recommends that agencies, units, people and tourists need to monitor weather forecasts, warnings, and updates to proactively prevent and avoid. Ensure the safety of anchored boats, protect cages and rafts, especially for people on the islands. Absolutely do not stay on anchored boats, tourist boats, cages, cages, aquaculture areas when there are tropical depressions, storms or bad weather phenomena.
Ensure safety when traveling during the rainy and stormy season: regularly monitor weather developments, warn of natural disasters, proactively postpone or cancel trips during bad weather to ensure safety; avoid traveling to coastal areas, islands, or areas at risk of landslides and rising sea levels.
Absolutely do not go out when the storm is making landfall, except in emergency cases and with specific instructions from the authorities. Determine the safest shelter for all family members; proactively evacuate when necessary or at the request of local authorities.
Proactively reserve enough food, drinking water, medicine, and necessary items. reinforcing and tying up houses; pruning tree branches; removing advertising signs and posters at risk of insecurity; ensuring the safety of construction works.
Consolidate livestock and poultry barns; take advantage of early harvesting of agricultural and aquatic products according to the motto "greener at home than in the fields". Beware of rain, floods, localized flooding in some low-lying areas, urban areas and landslides; beware of rising water in coastal areas and river mouths.
Raising assets, storing important documents in a safe place, moving motor vehicles to areas with high terrain. Proactively unblock drainage culverts near homes and residential areas to create flood drainage roads. Notify the authorities when there are incidents of water drainage congestion, deep flooding points; do not park in areas at risk of flooding; beware of flooding in apartment basements. Store rescue phone numbers for emergency use.

According to the provincial Department of Tourism, in July 2025, An Giang is expected to welcome more than 2.1 million visitors for sightseeing and tourism, of which Phu Quoc Special Zone is expected to welcome nearly 790,000 visitors. The province's total tourism revenue reached nearly 5,200 billion VND, of which Phu Quoc reached 3,278 billion VND.
