On April 7, 2026, Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, chaired a conference to listen to the Department of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) report on the content of the Project to establish Quang Trung High School.
According to a report by the Department of Education and Training, in Viet Tri city (formerly), there are currently 12 general education and continuing education institutions with high school levels, of which only 4 are public high schools (including Hung Vuong Specialized High School).
The rate of junior high school graduates studying in public high schools is still very low, averaging 26.5 - 34.2% in the last 5 years.
In particular, after the province's merger, the learning needs of children of officials, civil servants, and public employees following their parents to live and work at the political center of Phu Tho province have increased, creating pressure on public high schools in this area.
Quang Trung High School is a type of public school, directly under the Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho province. It is expected that the school's headquarters will be located on the campus of the old Song Hong Technical and Professional Secondary School (Song Hong Secondary School), zone 10, Nong Trang ward, Viet Tri city (old).
In the initial phase (2026 - 2027 school year), to promptly enroll 10th grade students and ensure teaching conditions, Quang Trung High School organizes teaching at the Provincial General Technical - Career Guidance Center.
The scale of Quang Trung High School has a total of 24 classes (8 grade 10 classes; 8 grade 11 classes; 8 grade 12 classes), with 1,080 students (an average of 45 students/class).
In which, the 2026 - 2027 school year enrolls 8 grades 10, with 360 students; the 2027 - 2028 school year has a scale of 16 classes (8 grades 10; 8 grades 11) with 720 students; the 2028 - 2029 school year has a total of 24 classes (8 grades 10; 8 grades 11; 8 grades 12) with a total of 1,080 students.
From the 2029 - 2030 school year onwards, the scale of 24 classes, with 1,080 students, will be basically stable; based on actual needs, expansion may be considered, but at most it will not exceed 30 classes with about 1,350 students, ensuring that it is suitable for the capacity of the staff and facilities. Students studying at Quang Trung High School are exempt from tuition fees according to regulations.
The investment project to build Quang Trung High School has been submitted by the Department of Education and Training to be included in the public investment list for the period 2026 - 2030 with a total estimated investment of 100 billion VND.
