Dong Da Ward fines hundreds of cases of littering

Hanoi Dong Da ward authorities have discovered and handled many cases of garbage dumping in the To Lich riverbank and Lang road area.

Representatives of the Department of Economics, Infrastructure and Urban Areas and the Investment - Infrastructure Project Management Board (Dong Da Ward) said that in the face of the situation of littering, advertising, and illegal posting, along with the long-standing "black garbage" spots, affecting the environment and causing frustration among the people, Dong Da Ward has organized a peak campaign to ensure urban order, traffic safety and hygiene.

During the periodic patrolling and environmental sanitation control along Lang Road (adjacent to the To Lich River), the authorities discovered and administratively sanctioned many cases of throwing household waste bags into the median strip near the riverbank.

The functional forces of Dong Da ward regularly maintain inspections and patrols to ensure urban order, traffic safety and environmental sanitation; identify frequent congestion points to arrange traffic flow forces; at the same time, deploy inspection and handling of violations of urban order, traffic order and environmental sanitation; inspect and handle business households encroaching on sidewalks for trading; organize traffic flow during rush hour at locations that are often congested.

The Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department of Dong Da Ward also said that it is completing the dossier to submit to the Ward People's Committee to issue a decision to sanction violations according to regulations. The act of "Turn away waste in the wrong place as prescribed in a public place" is punished according to Point c, Clause 2, Article 25 of Decree No. 45/2022/ND-CP of the Government on administrative sanctions in the field of environmental protection, with a fine of VND 750,000/case.

Along with that, the ward continues to promote propaganda, mobilization, notification and organization of signing commitments with business households, families, organizations and individuals in the area, requiring no dumping of garbage or discharging wastewater onto sidewalks and roads, contributing to preserving urban aesthetics.

Since the campaign was launched, the ward's functional forces have detected and handled 152 violations, fined nearly 85 million VND. Including: 1 case of using the roadway for illegal vehicle parking purposes; 12 cases of illegally using the roadway for markets, food and beverage services; 5 cases of illegal parking; and 134 cases of street vending were handled.
