According to statistics from the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses of Gia Lai province, there are currently 8,485 houses in the area that need to be repaired and rebuilt. These houses are mainly of poor and near-poor households, families with meritorious services to the revolution. Of which, it is necessary to build up to 6,828 new houses and repair 1,657 houses with a total cost of 459.390 billion VND. Temporary and dilapidated houses affect people's lives during natural disaster and storm seasons.
Mr. Rah Lan Chung - Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that the province is determined and strives to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses so that people can reach a good life and settle down. In addition to support from businesses inside and outside the province, Gia Lai saves 5% of regular expenditures in the local budget to support house building for people.
Currently, the whole province has started construction and repair of 993 houses, of which 142 houses have been completed. The solid, affectionate roofs were built to help the poor feel warm and happy.
Joining hands with the authorities at all levels of Gia Lai province, officers and soldiers of the Ministry of Public Security have supported and contributed 231 billion VND to promote the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
Mr. Hyon, residing in Dak Djrang commune, Mang Yang district, shared: "After many years of hard work, I now have the opportunity to live in a spacious, clean and beautiful house supported by the Ministry of Public Security and the government. Having a house makes me feel secure living, working, producing and protecting my hometown.
According to the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Gia Lai Province, with 8,485 houses, it is a large number and a lot of work. While the budget revenue of Gia Lai province is still limited, transportation and transportation of materials and goods to some mountainous localities is not really convenient.
In addition to the police force, the Ministry of National Defense has recently issued an official dispatch agreeing to assign Military Region 5, Army Corps 34, and Army Corps 15 to help the people of Gia Lai eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Based on the actual situation, military units have helped people build new houses and renovate their houses, while complying with work discipline and absolute safety.
In remote mountainous villages and hamlets, the army's green shirt has worked with the people to transport rocks and sand, contributing to rebuilding solid houses.
Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Rah Lan Chung emphasized: "The implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses must be timely, ensuring publicity, democracy, fairness, transparency, quality and efficiency. Gia Lai province is committed to using support and contribution sources in the most effective way, determined to complete before June 30, 2025, exceeding the target assigned by the Government".
