In recent days, Vietnamese embassies in many countries have solemnly celebrated the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).
According to VNA, at the celebration in New York (USA) organized by the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations on December 9, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam persists in its "four no's" defense policy, along with its independent and self-reliant foreign policy, proactively integrating into the international community, participating in many bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation mechanisms, contributing to strengthening strategic trust and contributing to peace, security and development in the world.
Representing the United Nations leadership, according to Deputy Secretary-General Atul Khare, peacekeeping is an important pillar in the partnership between the United Nations and Vietnam, emphasizing the outstanding contributions of units and individuals performing peacekeeping missions in Vietnam, especially level 2 field hospitals and engineering teams at a number of Missions in Africa.
On the same day, at the ceremony organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, on behalf of the US Department of Defense leadership, Major General Ricky Mills, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, said that cooperation in overcoming the consequences of war continues to play an important role in bilateral defense relations as well as enhancing trust and cooperation between the US and Vietnam.
At the celebration of the Vietnamese Embassy in Poland on December 10, Vietnamese Ambassador Ha Hoang Hai emphasized that, implementing Vietnam's consistent foreign policy, in recent years, the Vietnam People's Army has actively promoted international integration and defense diplomacy at both bilateral and multilateral levels. The Vietnam People's Army has also actively participated in United Nations peacekeeping missions, international cooperation in the fields of non-traditional security, humanitarian assistance, search and rescue, and overcoming the consequences of war, making a worthy contribution to creating an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Attending the event to congratulate the Vietnam People's Army at the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation, Director General of the General Department of International Military Cooperation, Lieutenant General Aleksandr Kshimovsky affirmed that the Vietnam People's Army has successfully continued the tradition of victory since its inception with the "Elder Brother" of the Army - General Vo Nguyen Giap - never faltering in the face of difficulties. Lieutenant General Kshimovsky affirmed that the tradition of supporting Vietnam since the Soviet era has not been "broken" for a single day, when today Vietnam is a strategic and trustworthy partner of Russia.
At the celebration of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, Ambassador Pham Hung Tam proudly said that the Vietnam People's Army is not only a military force but also symbolizes the spirit of solidarity, determination and patriotism of the Vietnamese people.
VNA quoted Professor Carl Thayer from the Australian Defense Force Academy, University of New South Wales, praising the professionalism, creativity, discipline and operations of the Vietnamese Army, especially in cooperating with all countries and participating in humanitarian and peacekeeping activities.
