Quang Binh evacuated nearly 1,000 people from dangerous areas

237 households with 918 people were evacuated from dangerous locations by Quang Binh province.

On the afternoon of September 19, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Hoang Van Linh - Chairman of Kim Thuy commune (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province) said that he had just evacuated 36 households in the area from the landslide site.

Accordingly, local authorities evacuated 36 households with 160 people from Mit Cat village, including children and adults.

“These households are located in areas at risk of landslides, so this morning (September 19), the commune moved them to a safe location. The commune has provided food for the next few days to help people overcome the storm and flood,” said Mr. Linh.

According to the latest information from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Quang Binh province, as of 11:00 a.m. on September 19, the province has evacuated 238 households with 918 people. The evacuation is concentrated in Le Thuy, Bo Trach, Tuyen Hoa and Minh Hoa districts.

It is forecasted that from noon today (September 19) to the end of September 20, in the Quang Binh area, there will be a period of heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain.

Heavy rain will focus from noon today (September 19) to noon September 20. Total rainfall is as follows: Tuyen Hoa and Minh Hoa districts from 100-250mm, some places over 350mm; Quang Trach districts, Ba Don town, Bo Trach, Dong Hoi city from 110-260mm, some places over 360mm; Quang Ninh and Le Thuy districts from 120-270mm, some places over 380mm.

Heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods and landslides in Tuyen Hoa and Minh Hoa districts; mountainous areas of Bo Trach, Quang Trach, Quang Ninh and Le Thuy districts; flooding in low-lying areas, riverside areas and urban areas.
