On February 27, the leader of the People's Committee of Duy Hai commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, said that after 4 days of collection, most of the crude oil (in bulk form) drifting to the local coast has been taken away for treatment.
The total amount of crude oil collected by Duy Hai commune authorities and functional forces is estimated at about 7 tons.

Previously, on February 24, people living along the coast of Duy Hai commune discovered a lot of castor oil in lumps, drifting ashore in Tay Son Dong village.
The bulk crude oil has a capacity of 0.5 - 2 cm, soft, black, drifting ashore and mixed in the seawater for about 7km, about 5m wide along the coast of Duy Hai commune.
That same day, the Quang Nam Border Guard mobilized 30 officers and soldiers to coordinate with the Duy Hai commune government and local people to simultaneously collect oil in this coastal area, to ensure the environment.
