On December 1, Mr. Dinh Van Vuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Don commune, Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province said that a landslide had just occurred in the area, causing dozens of large rocks on a high hill to roll down to Tu Hon village, hamlet 3 of this commune.
Previously, in the afternoon and evening of November 30, in Kon Plong district (Kon Tum), many consecutive earthquakes occurred, causing the mountainous district of Nam Tra My, bordering Kon Tum, to clearly feel aftershocks and strong tremors.
In Tu Hon village, hamlet 3, Tra Don commune, the earthquake caused landslides, many very large rocks on the top of Ngoc Mong mountain rolled down to the area on the top of the village, only about 30 to 50 meters from people's houses.
During the landslide, some very large rocks were precariously perched on a high cliff or hanging from some tree roots and were at risk of continuing to roll down, endangering 17 households with 69 people and the kindergarten in Tu Hon village.
Nam Tra My district authorities said they urgently directed the shock force to organize an emergency evacuation of all households from the dangerous area to avoid being hit by rolling rocks and to develop a plan to handle the landslide.
According to the Institute of Geophysics, on November 30, 2024, 6 earthquakes occurred in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province. Nam Tra My district is adjacent to Kon Plong district, so it was greatly affected by aftershocks.
