On January 22, the Office of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee informed that Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, has signed and issued regulations on the construction, management, and use of cemeteries and cremation facilities.
This regulation clearly states that the use of land and land allocation in the cemetery must be in accordance with the plan, according to the location of the grave area, rows of graves and graves. The cemetery management unit is not allowed to allow people to register the graves in advance for reserve except in some special cases.
Special cases include people aged 70 and over, people with critical illnesses, people whose wives or husbands have been buried in the cemetery. For these cases, Quang Ngai province allows them to be placed in a burial location in the cemetery in advance.
Quang Ngai province strictly prohibits the transfer of pre-registered personal graves in any form.
Currently, there are no cremation facilities in Quang Ngai province. Therefore, this province has issued a policy to support people who need cremation of deceased relatives.
Fire funerals are supported with 10-15 million VND depending on the area. Communes and wards in region 1 are supported with 15 million VND/case, region 2 is supported with 13 million VND/case, and region 3 is supported with 10 million VND/case.
Units belonging to region 1 include Ly Son special zone and communes and wards of Kon Tum province (old).
Region 2 includes Tra Bong, Dong Tra Bong, Tay Tra, Thanh Bong, Ca Dam, Tay Tra Bong, Son Ha, Son Linh, Son Ha, Son Thuy, Son Ky, Son Tay, Son Tay Thuong, Son Tay Ha, Minh Long, Son Mai, Ba Vi, Ba To, Ba Dinh, Ba To, Ba Vinh, Ba Dong, Ba Xa communes and Dang Thuy Tram commune.
The remaining communes and wards belong to region 3.
The purpose of this policy is to encourage people to use cremation, contributing to bringing the average cremation rate in Quang Ngai province to at least 5%.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a leader of the People's Committee of the Ly Son Special Zone said that although the province has financial support policies for cremation cases, the implementation in practice faces many difficulties due to customs and habits of the people, and there are currently no cremation facilities in the province.
According to this leader, if there is a need for cremation, people must take the bodies to other provinces and cities for implementation. “Most cases in the Ly Son Special Zone are still being cremated. Meanwhile, the land area on the island is limited, the population is large, and many graves are scattered. We have also proposed to allocate funds to build a cremation facility on the island, but so far no funds have been allocated,” said the leader of the Ly Son Special Zone People's Committee.
