Join hands and hearts for the poor
On November 28, Quang Ngai province held a ceremony to launch a campaign to support the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. At the ceremony, Quang Ngai received more than 242 billion VND from organizations, businesses, and localities to support the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The 242 billion VND that Quang Ngai province received is not simply a number, but behind it is the sentiment of organizations, businesses... wanting to join hands to help the poor in Quang Ngai have more conditions to rise up.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van - Secretary of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, from 2021 to now, Quang Ngai has built and repaired houses for more than 9,000 poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties, with a total cost of nearly 400 billion VND. Of which, the State budget is about 160 billion VND, mobilizing other resources in society is about 240 billion VND.
The whole province still has about 9,797 households with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives, poor households, near-poor households... living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses, while resources from the State budget and provincial budget to support the elimination of temporary houses, dilapidated houses for people are limited. Talking to reporters, Ms. Pham Thi Dien (Ba Cung commune, Ba To district) expressed: "My mother gave me a piece of land to live separately, but I do not have enough ability to build a solid house, so I only built a small temporary hut made of bamboo and canvas to live in. I am afraid it will collapse when it rains and winds, and it is hot when it is sunny. I really hope for a sturdy house to feel secure and have the motivation to rise up and escape poverty."
Completely eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025
Quang Ngai aims to complete the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses by October 2025. The province is focusing on surveying and reviewing the housing situation of the subjects... to ensure that no cases are missed.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van, in order to complete the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025, the provincial leaders have requested the Fatherland Front, organizations, Party committees, and authorities at all levels, especially the heads of Party committees, to identify this as the top political task, and direct its implementation from now until the end of 2025; with the spirit of "Cadres and Party members go first, the country follows". Carry out the work proactively and effectively, so that 100% of people in the province can live in safe and durable houses to work, produce, and stabilize their lives.
Sharing with reporters, Mr. Vo Thanh An - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee - said that according to the plan, Quang Ngai will support cases of removing temporary and dilapidated houses with a budget of 60 million VND/household for new construction and 30 million VND/household for repair. To effectively implement the Program of removing temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, ensuring that people live in sturdy houses, ensuring "3 hard" - hard foundation, hard wall and hard roof, we need to mobilize more social resources in combination with State resources. Resources come from support from the central and local governments, the help of the community, businesses, and individuals inside and outside the province in the spirit of "whoever has something helps, whoever has merit helps merit, whoever has property helps property, whoever has little helps little, whoever has a lot helps a lot".
