On September 18, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, signed a decision to support funding for 8 communes in the work of preventing and controlling African swine fever.
This money will be used to buy materials, chemicals, hire equipment to handle outbreaks and pay for forces directly involved in suppressing African swine fever. Of which, Nghia Hanh commune was supported the most with more than 1.31 billion VND; the two communes of Kon Plong and Phuoc Giang were both supported with 400 million VND; Nghia Giang commune was supported with 350 million VND; Mo Cay commune was supported with more than 310 million VND; Thien Tin commune was supported with 300 million VND; Long Phung and Tu Nghia communes each received 200 million VND.
According to the Quang Ngai Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, since the beginning of July, African swine fever has broke out in 60 communes, wards, and special zones, affecting more than 10,400 households. A total of more than 73,200 pigs were forced to be destroyed.
The authorities also recommend that livestock farmers only herd after leaving the barn empty, and disinfect for at least 30 days. The breed must have a clear origin, tested negative for African swine fever and have a quarantine certificate if purchased from outside the province.
Notably, breeding pigs need to be kept quarantined for at least 21 days before entering the flock for facilities that still have livestock. In case of herding not in accordance with regulations, not ensuring biosafety, if an epidemic occurs, it will be handled according to the law and will not be supported.
