On the morning of July 14, the People's Council of the newly appointed Quang Ngai province held its 2nd session, term XIII, 2021-2026. This is an important session, taking place in a special context after the province completed the merger of administrative units with Kon Tum province.
According to the report at the meeting, the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year of the new Quang Ngai province has achieved very impressive results. Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated at nearly 42,000 billion VND, up 11.51% over the same period last year. With this figure, Quang Ngai (new) has risen to the top of the country in terms of GRDP growth rate. The main driver for this breakthrough comes from the industrial - construction sector with a growth rate of up to 21.38%. Along with that, the disbursement of public investment capital reached 37%, higher than the national average, showing the determination in project management and implementation.
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Bui Thi Quynh Van emphasized that the (new) Quang Ngai province must be a Quang Ngai that "dures to think, dares to do, dares to take responsibility and dares to break through". She requested all levels and sectors to take practical action, create clear changes, and develop Quang Ngai quickly and sustainably.
Regarding the tasks for the last 6 months of the year, the Provincial Party Secretary proposed to focus on reviewing and rearranging the staff, especially in two key areas: finance and land administration, to meet the requirements of work after the merger. At the same time, the province continues to consistently implement the policy of "government accompanying businesses", proactively removing difficulties, creating favorable conditions for investors. In particular, Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van requested to thoroughly handle projects that are behind schedule, causing waste of land resources, demonstrating the determination to clean up the investment environment. The meeting also considered 12 important submissions related to financial mechanisms and policies to support officials from the old Kon Tum to work at the new administrative center.
