On August 31, according to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper in the administrative center of Quang Ninh, the nameplates of many agencies and units have been changed, preparing for the time Quang Ninh officially becomes a centrally-run city.
At the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee headquarters, the sign "Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee" has been replaced by the sign "Quang Ninh City Party Committee".
The nameplate at the Quang Ninh Provincial Public Administration Service Center, Inter-agency Headquarters No. 3 and Quang Ninh Provincial Conference Organization Center has also been changed. In which, the phrase "Quang Ninh province" was replaced by "Quang Ninh city".
Not far away, the nameplate at the gate of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee headquarters is also being changed.
Previously, on August 24, 2026, the 16th National Assembly voted to approve the Resolution on the establishment of Quang Ninh city based on the entire natural area and population size of Quang Ninh province.
As a result of the vote, 478/478 National Assembly deputies present to participate in the vote were in favor, reaching a rate of 100%.
The Resolution takes effect from September 1, 2026.
According to the Resolution, agencies, organizations, and units with names associated with the place name "Quang Ninh province" are renamed to operate with names associated with the place name "Quang Ninh city" from the date the Resolution takes effect.
