Mr. Pham Anh Hao - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Kim 1 commune - said that at around 3:00 p.m. on September 29, the landslide on National Highway 8A through the area was temporarily cleared with one side of the road for vehicles to pass through and re-open. The work of clearing landslides is still continuing.
Previously, due to the impact of storm No. 10, due to prolonged heavy rain, on the same morning at Km77+300 on National Highway 8A in Son Kim 1 commune, landslides occurred, with trees falling across the road, causing congestion, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.
The incident caused many vehicles to be jammed, extending the two ends of the road.
Immediately after receiving the report, local authorities, along with the police force of Son Kim 1 commune and functional units, quickly arrived at the scene, deployed checkpoints, directed traffic flow, and instructed vehicles to stop and turn around at safe points.
The authorities then mobilized machinery and mechanical means to urgently level and clear the rocks and soil, and soon reopen the route.
National Highway 8A to Cau Treo border gate passes through Son Kim 1 commune, with hilly terrain, many sharp turns, and landslides often occur during the rainy season, causing traffic congestion.
