On September 4, the People's Committee of Tuyen Hoa commune (Quang Tri province) said that a landslide had just occurred, causing a section of the North-South railway to be skewed.
According to the Tuyen Hoa commune government, at about 6:10 a.m. the same day, 3 large rocks (from 1.5 - 3m3) rolled down from the mountainside and hit the railway. The incident damaged a section of the railway, fortunately no trains passed through at this time.
The incident caused trains on the North - South route through Quang Tri to temporarily stop at the nearest station. Immediately afterwards, the railway industry issued an urgent notice to ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles.
A representative of Quang Binh Railway Joint Stock Company said that the unit has mobilized human resources and means to urgently overcome the problem to soon reopen the route.
