On May 20, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued a decision approving the general planning task of Duc Trong commune.
Accordingly, the planning scope includes the entire natural area within the administrative boundaries of Duc Trong commune with a scale of 14,877.79ha, equivalent to 148.77km2. The short-term planning period is to 2030 and the long-term to 2050.
According to the plan, the locality is oriented to develop according to a smart, green, and sustainable urban model; shifting the economic structure towards processing industry, logistics services, international trade and administrative urban areas. At the same time, forming a new administrative - political center of Lam Dong province.
In the short term to 2030, the locality focuses on completing the criteria for modern new rural communes; striving to achieve urban type III criteria, corresponding to ward-level administrative units.
Traffic, industrial, urban and service infrastructure items will be prioritized for synchronous investment.
Regarding the long-term orientation to 2050, Lam Dong province sets a goal to build Duc Trong into a nuclear city, a gateway to international trade with a synchronous infrastructure connection system with highways and Lien Khuong International Airport.
At the same time, the locality will develop the Lam Dong Provincial Administrative - Political Center associated with a modern administrative city, creating motivation for development for the central area and surrounding areas.
According to the planning orientation, Duc Trong is also invested in developing into a research center, product development and specialized technology improvement in the fields of biotechnology, agricultural product processing, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
The province also orients investment in building Duc Trong shallow port, upgrading Lien Khuong international airport; completing technical infrastructure and social infrastructure in a modern, synchronous direction, adapting to climate change.
According to the approval decision, Duc Trong commune is identified as the gateway to international trade, the new administrative - political center of Lam Dong province; and at the same time the core of the "Central Sub-region of Lam Dong territory", playing the role of regional linkage and leading economic development for the surrounding urban and rural areas.
