Expanding the natural area to about 336,067 hectares
On March 29, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai signed a document (No. 2992/Ttr-UBND) on the proposal for appraisal and approval of the overall adjustment project for the general planning of Da Lat city and surrounding areas until 2045.
Accordingly, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee submitted to the Ministry of Construction for appraisal and the Prime Minister to consider and approve the project to adjust the overall planning of Da Lat city and surrounding areas until 2045.
The research scope includes Da Lat city and Lac Duong, Don Duong, Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Dam Rong districts with elevation from 850m or more.
The scope of planning is the entire administrative boundary of Da Lat city with Lac Duong, Don Duong, Duc Trong districts and part of Lam Ha district (including Nam Ban town and Me Linh, Dong Thanh, Gia Lam, Nam Ha communes) with elevation from 850m or more.
Thus, the total natural area within the planning scope will be about 336,067 hectares. The planning period is short-term to 2035 and long-term to 2045.
Adjusting planning to meet development needs
Da Lat city and surrounding areas are planned to develop in two main areas. The northern region includes Da Lat city and Lac Duong district, and is oriented to merge into the expanded Da Lat by 2030.
This is a central urban area with a historical role, preserving architectural heritage and landscape, and is also the economic, cultural, scientific and technical center of Lam Dong province.
This area will develop into an urban area and a high-class resort center, with characteristics of climate, natural landscape, historical culture and architectural heritage of regional, national and international stature.
The Southern region is oriented to develop according to the model of satellite cities, including Duc Trong, D'Ran, Thanh My and Nam Ban, according to the approved general planning.
Duc Trong urban area will develop in three main functions: High-tech production center, financial - trade - service center and regional logistics center.
In the future, Duc Trong is oriented to become a new political - administrative center of the province, playing the role of international trade unit of the region and the country.
In terms of population size, it is expected that by 2035, the total population of the region will reach about 1.1 - 1.15 million people. Of which, the urban population is about 850,000 - 900,000 people, the rural population is about 250,000 people.
By 2045, the population will increase to about 1.9 - 1.95 million people. In which. urban population is about 1.5 - 1.55 million people, rural population is about 400,000 people.
Da Lat is oriented to become a special urban area in terms of planning, architecture, culture, history and landscape, developed according to the model of a tourism - cultural - scientific, green and modern urban area reaching international standards.
This adjustment of the planning is to meet the development needs of the city, in line with the socio-economic development of Lam Dong province, the Central Highlands region and the whole country.
The planning also takes the lead in key projects such as highways and aviation that the province is implementing, solving traffic congestion problems and preserving urban space, especially in the central area of Da Lat.
The planning aims to synchronously solve urban problems such as population, housing, infrastructure, transportation, environment, climate change adaptation and national defense and security.
This planning is also the legal basis for local authorities to implement zoning plans, detailed plans and construction investment projects according to regulations, while controlling urban development towards sustainability...
