The Appraisal Council for adjusting Gia Lai Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has agreed on the dossier submitted for appraisal and adjustment of the provincial plan.
After the merger, Gia Lai maintains a special strategic position in the national development space in terms of economy, politics, defense - security, transportation and foreign affairs.
The province is located in the center of the South Central Coast and Central Highlands region, is the intersection between the vast plateau and the coastal plain, and is also directly connected to the East Sea and Cambodia through the international border gate system.
Gia Lai currently has the 2nd largest area in the country, owning 134km of coastline and 90.3km of border adjacent to Ratanakiri province (Cambodia).
The planning adjustment aims to ensure consistency and synchronization with higher-level strategies and plans; update new growth drivers, effectively exploit potentials in land, resources, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, processing industry, tourism and services.
This is also the basis for expanding development space, improving competitiveness and attracting investment in the coming period.
The goal by 2030 is for Gia Lai to strive to achieve an average GRDP growth rate of 10.5% or more, to become a fairly developed province; the infrastructure system is invested synchronously and modernly, and the material and spiritual life of the people continues to be improved...
Adjusting the provincial planning to define the socio-economic space organization according to a breakthrough development model including "3 driving corridors - 2 economic zones - 3 growth centers - 4 functional zoning areas".
In which, 3 dynamic corridor axes include the east-west corridor, the east coast economic corridor and the west corridor.
2 key economic zones are Nhon Hoi Economic Zone - the driving force of the east and Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone - the development nucleus of the west, associated with Duc Co, Ia Dom, Ia Dok, Ia Krel areas and the Quy Nhon - Pleiku - Le Thanh corridor.
3 growth centers include the eastern area with the core being expanded Quy Nhon, Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, Phu Cat airport and DIEU Tri TOD; the northern coastal area includes Hoai Nhon, Phu My, De Gi, Bong Son TOD; the western area includes expanded Pleiku, Le Thanh, Chu Se, Dak Doa border economic zone, associated with National Highway 14, National Highway 19, Pleiku airport, Quy Nhon - Pleiku - Le Thanh expressway in the future and border gate connection routes, large raw material areas on the plateau.
4 socio-economic regions, including region 1: Integrated coastal economic development - nuclear cities - high-tech industry - airport logistics - education and health services; region 2: Urban - eco-tourism - culture - trade and services - border gate economy; region 3: Agriculture - ecology - heritage - tourism to sources - carbon reserves; region 4: High-tech agriculture - livestock breeding - agricultural tourism - national cultural heritage.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Planning Ajustment Appraisal Council - emphasized that planning is an important basis for mobilizing, allocating and effectively using resources; orienting the organization of development space, building a synchronous infrastructure system and effectively exploiting the province's potential and advantages in the long term.
Faced with the new requirements of the country's development process, along with adjustments to national planning, sectoral planning and regional planning, reviewing, updating and adjusting provincial planning is a necessary and urgent requirement.
The Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee believes that the plan, after being completed and approved, will become an important tool to orient rapid and sustainable development; effectively exploit potentials and advantages; contributing to building Gia Lai into a dynamic development locality, playing an important role in the Central Highlands region and the whole country.
