On the morning of December 16, Mr. Tran Van Huong - Director of Nha Trang Environmental Enterprise under Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company confirmed that he had mobilized dozens of employees to clean up trash along the Nha Trang coast.
In recent days, Nha Trang city has experienced bad weather and prolonged rain. Along the coast on Tran Phu Street, large waves have brought large amounts of marine debris from offshore to shore.
Since early morning, people have noticed trash along Tran Phu beach. Most of it is junk wood and household waste washed up by floods.
Mr. Tran Van Huong said that the company has been cleaning up the Nha Trang coastline for the past 4 days. On average, the company collects 70-80 tons of garbage per day.
The reason for the large amount of garbage dumped is because many irrigation reservoirs upstream discharged floodwaters simultaneously. The process of floodwaters flowing into the sea swept away a large amount of fallen trees, duckweed, and household waste.
After flowing out to sea, garbage has been washed ashore by waves on Nha Trang's coastline continuously for many days.
To date, all the garbage dumped along the coast has been cleaned up by environmental staff.
