On June 4, the Command of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command said that Phuoc Thuan Border Guard Station has coordinated with relevant units to check the health and release a sea turtle caught in the net back to its safe natural environment.
Previously, at about 7 am on June 4, Mr. T.P. N (born in 1999, residing in Ho Tram commune) while fishing at sea discovered a sea turtle caught in a net. Immediately, Mr. N moved to bring this sea turtle to the Ho Tram public beach area, and reported it to Phuoc Thuan Border Guard Station.
Upon receiving the information, officers and soldiers of Phuoc Thuan Border Guard Station quickly arrived at the scene, checked the health status of the sea turtle individual, and coordinated with relevant units to take necessary rescue measures. After determining that this individual was healthy and qualified to return to the natural environment, the force and the Ho Tram Commune Public Service Supply Center organized to release it back to the sea.
It is known that sea turtles are rare wild animals, play an important role in marine ecosystems and are being prioritized for protection by Vietnamese law. Many conservation programs have been implemented to protect and restore sea turtle populations and raise community awareness in biodiversity conservation.
Fishermen proactively notifying and coordinating with functional forces to rescue and release sea turtles back into the natural environment contributes to protecting rare animal species, spreading community awareness of responsibility in protecting marine resources and environment, and joining hands to maintain a sustainable marine ecosystem.
