Recently, Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has just signed a decision approving the technical outline for the project " Establishing Muong Nhe National Park on the basis of upgrading Muong Nhe Nature Reserve".
Accordingly, the implementation time is in 2025. The investor is the Muong Nhe Nature Reserve Management Board.
The project aims to review and fully evaluate the criteria according to the provisions of the law on forestry and biodiversity conservation to propose to competent authorities to decide to establish Muong Nhe National Park on the basis of converting Muong Nhe Nature Reserve to a category.
The main activities of the project include investigation, assessment, updating and supplementing natural conditions; current status of people's livelihood, economy - society; boundary scope, area of special-use forests, subdivisions and buffer zones; current status of forest management and use, land; current status of forests, natural ecosystems; values of biodiversity, genetic resources; historical, cultural, landscape, eco-tourism, resorts, entertainment...
Analyze and compare the current status of Muong Nhe Nature Reserve with the criteria of the National Park according to regulations. Develop and propose activities, plans to stabilize the lives of residents in the buffer zone, solutions for implementation, and organization of management of Muong Nhe National Park.
The former Muong Nhe Nature Reserve is a National Banning Forest established in 1976 by the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee and recognized by the State in 1986 by the Council of Ministers with a planning area of 182,000 hectares.
From 1986 to 2002, Muong Nhe Nature Reserve was managed by the Lai Chau Provincial Forest Protection Department (old). In 2005, the Muong Nhe Nature Reserve Management Board was officially established according to the decision of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province.
In 2023, the Muong Nhe Nature Reserve Management Board was renamed the Muong Nhe Nature Reserve Management Board.
Muong Nhe Nature Reserve is one of the largest Nature reserves in Vietnam with a total forest area of 46,730.51 hectares.
This place has a tropical forest ecosystem with many habitats such as broadleaf evergreen timber forests, mixed-use forests of bamboo, bamboo forests of bamboo, grasslands behind the fields and dense hydrological systems, rivers and streams.
