On the afternoon of November 17, Mr. Nguyen Anh Cu - Vice Chairman of Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee (Quang Tri Province) confirmed that the locality is moving people and property of households in the landslide area to a safe place.
Previously, at around 12:00 on the same day, the back half of Ms. N.N.B.T's house (Block 3A, Khe Sanh commune) collapsed due to landslides, fortunately there were no human casualties.
After receiving the information, Khe Sanh commune mobilized forces to move assets and set up checkpoints to prevent people from passing through to ensure safety.
Through inspection, not only Ms. N.N.B.T's house, but also the adjacent high-rise building were eroded in the foundation. Therefore, the locality has mobilized the evacuation of people and property of 11 households (Hamlet 3A) with 45 people to safety.

"People are evacuated to relatives' houses, and our basic support is to bring their assets to safety to avoid damage. Behind the 11 houses is a deep abyss, with landslides eating deep into the foundation and there is a risk of further landslides" - Mr. Nguyen Anh Cu informed.
It is known that heavy rain not only collapsed houses, but also affected some bridge foundations in Ruong village, Van Ri spillway was seriously eroded, the road in block 6 was eroded with half of the lane and some temporary bridges partially cut off the road to the old Ruong village and Huc commune.

According to the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command, in the past 12 hours, there has been heavy to very heavy rain in the area. As of 11:30 a.m. the same day, heavy rain had caused 3 flooded and isolated locations, 190 households with 644 people were flooded; 5 landslides (La Lay, Huong Hiep); 3 schools were off; more than 4,490 households had no power. The locality has relocated and evacuated 217 households with 813 people.
Currently, floods on rivers are continuing to rise, the risk of widespread flooding and landslides is very high.
