Landslides and flooding appear on Ho Chi Minh Road in Quang Tri

Quang Tri - The Ho Chi Minh road, the western branch through Dakrong commune, was flooded and landslides after a long period of heavy rain.

On November 17, the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command said that heavy rain from the night of November 16 to this morning caused water levels to rise rapidly, causing flooding in many places in Quang Tri province, and some areas were temporarily cut off.

In Kim Ngan commune, there are 4 flooded spots, temporarily making traffic impassable. The road from the commune People's Committee headquarters to Con Cung dam is flooded about 1m; the road to An Bai village is flooded about 1m; culvert 25 and culvert 23 on National Highway 9B are flooded from 0.3 to 0.4m.

In La Lay commune, 2 flooded spots caused traffic through the A Ngo and A Rong village spillways to be interrupted, with water levels rising 40-60cm.

In Ben Quan commune, heavy rain caused water to rise at the spillways on Provincial Road 571 about 0.5m; the spillways on Provincial Road 586 were also flooded 0.5m, causing traffic disruption.

In Ba Long commune, many flooded households have been supported by localities to move to safety.

In particular, Dakrong commune recorded 10 points of severe flooding. For example, Ly Ton spillway is flooded with more than 3m; Do Da spillway is flooded with 3m; Chan Ro spillway is flooded with 3-4m. Many other points were flooded from 0.3 to 0.5m such as the A Lo and La Tia spillways. The headquarters of the People's Committee of the commune in the Klu area was flooded about 1m; the area of km1 of Ho Chi Minh Road West branch was flooded 0.5-1m; the spillway at km28 and Ra Poong was flooded 30-60cm. The overflow bridge in Thuan 2 was also flooded about 1m.

Mr. Le Hoai Phong - Chairman of Dakrong District People's Committee said that the location of the commune headquarters in Klu village and km1 of Ho Chi Minh road is quite high, rarely flooded but now it is flooded. In addition, the Ho Chi Minh Highway West branch through Pa Hy village also had a landslide, National Highway 9 through Lang Cat village also had a landslide.

"The unit has put up signs prohibiting vehicles and people from passing through flooded and landslide areas and sent forces to be on duty to handle them" - Mr. Le Hoai Phong informed.
