On May 6, the survey delegation of the Standing Committee of Vinh Long Provincial People's Council conducted a field inspection at landslide points of the dyke against erosion on the Giao Hoa riverbank, Giao Long commune according to Resolution No. 269/NQ-HDND dated April 22, 2026 of the Provincial People's Council.
According to the report of Giao Long Commune People's Committee, the locality is bordered by the Ba Lai River, Giao Hoa River and Tien River, so the landslide situation is increasingly complicated. Notably, a serious landslide occurred in the area of People's Self-Management Group No. 6, Chau Thanh hamlet on August 10, 2025.

Currently, the landslide section is about 200m long, of which 30m of the dyke body is completely damaged. The concrete road surface on the dyke is subsided and cracked, affecting people's travel. If not handled promptly, the risk of landslides continues to expand, possibly affecting about 43ha of production land, 247 houses with more than 800 people and many projects such as schools, health stations, and production facilities.
According to Giao Hoa Commune People's Committee, the main reason is that the riverbed is deep from -15m to -20m, the current is strong, especially when Ba Lai culvert is closed, increasing water pressure, causing erosion at the foot of the embankment. In addition, many ships passing by also increase the impact on the project.
The locality also raised difficulties regarding limited funding, lack of specialized human resources, and sometimes inconsistent coordination in handling, causing slow recovery work.

Speaking in conclusion, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Council - acknowledged the recommendations and reports of the locality and related units. At the same time, he requested to fully summarize the current situation, causes, and solutions to report to the Provincial People's Council, as a basis for considering and directing handling in the coming time.
According to the plan, on May 7, the delegation will continue to survey Thanh Long islet, Quoi Thien commune.
