On September 16, at ditch No. 2, Zone A, Le Thi Rieng Park, the task force continued to expand the scope of searching for martyrs' remains.
During the day, more than 500m3 of soil was treated to serve the digging and searching. Three excavators, one dump truck and two 3.5-ton trucks were mobilized to dig and transport soil out of the area.
As a result, the search force discovered and collected 14 more sets of martyrs' remains, including 1 set with artifacts attached.


According to the Repatriation Team of Martyrs' remains under the Ho Chi Minh City Command, from June 23 to the end of September 16, the task force discovered and repatriated 646 sets of martyrs' remains, of which 297 sets contained artifacts at Le Thi Rieng Park.
Of this total, 613 sets were discovered and collected separately; 33 sets were found at 8 mass grave locations. Two mass grave locations are located in Zone A and 6 locations in Zone B.
The search at Le Thi Rieng Park is still continuing, in which functional forces continue to expand the scope of digging at Area A.




Information from the Ho Chi Minh City Command said that in the near future, the City's Steering Committee 515 will coordinate with the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 to report to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the National Steering Committee 515 to organize a funeral, memorial service and burial of martyrs' remains. The rituals are expected to take place in early October.
According to a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, the unit is summarizing phase 1 of the 500-day and night campaign to search, collect and identify martyrs' remains, including search results at Le Thi Rieng Park.
After summarizing, units will evaluate the achieved results, and at the same time identify the contents that need to be overcome to deploy phase 2. This work aims to complete the 500-day and night campaign to search, collect and identify the remains of martyrs, and at the same time prepare for activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027).
