On January 4, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that from January 1, 2025, the Traffic Police force will be assigned the task of managing, operating, and using the data management system for journey monitoring devices and driver image recording devices.
According to the Traffic Police Department, the above content is based on the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, Decree 151/2024 of the Government, and Circular 71/2024 of the Ministry of Public Security.
According to regulations, journey monitoring devices are installed on commercial transport vehicles, tractors, ambulances, and road traffic rescue vehicles.
The driver image recording device is installed on passenger cars with 8 seats or more for transport business (excluding the driver's seat), tractor-trailers, ambulances, and road traffic rescue vehicles.
"The above work aims to serve the work of ensuring security, order, road traffic safety and handling violations, and state management of road transport," said the Traffic Police Department.
Data will also be connected and shared with the Ministry of Transport (Vietnam Road Administration), Departments of Transport of provinces and centrally run cities and relevant agencies in accordance with the law.
To implement the above regulations, the Traffic Police Department requests units and service providers to transmit data from journey monitoring devices and driver image recording devices to coordinate in connecting, integrating, testing and transmitting data from journey monitoring devices and driver image recording devices to the Traffic Police Department.
Regarding the time to register for integration testing schedule, integration testing, and data transmission on real environment must be completed before January 25. The Traffic Police Department also assigned the technical department to guide units to complete the above content.
Previously, in Circular No. 73/2024, the Ministry of Public Security also stipulated that traffic police units are allowed to exploit data from journey monitoring devices, driver image recording devices, and databases on road traffic order and safety to control, detect and handle violations of laws on road traffic order and safety.
