On the afternoon of September 16, information from the People's Committee of Dong Hieu commune, Nghe An province said that heavy rain lasting from the afternoon of September 15 to the morning of September 16 caused flooding in many areas in the area.
According to a quick local report, the whole commune has 101 houses flooded from 0.6-2m. In some areas, the water continues to rise, functional forces have supported the evacuation of 45 households to safe places.
Heavy rain also caused about 30m of school fences and 20m of people's fences to collapse; 8 large lakes and ponds were flooded. About 400ha of crops were affected.

On National Highway 48, a 7-seater car was flooded. In deeply flooded areas, people and functional forces moved livestock, property and essential items to high positions to limit damage.
Faced with the developments of rain and floods, the Military Command of Nghe An province directed the Military Command of Dong Hieu commune to maintain on-duty forces, prepare vehicles and plans for disaster prevention and control, search and rescue.
Military forces, police, grassroots security and disaster prevention and control teams are deployed in areas at risk of deep flooding and landslides; and at the same time, warning signs are placed to control people and vehicles through dangerous locations.
For families flooded or located in areas at risk of continued water surge, functional forces go to each area to support people to evacuate and move property to safe places.
Dong Hieu commune authorities are continuing to review affected areas, monitor flood developments and statistics of damage to implement remedial measures.
