On September 26, Dong Ha city held a press conference to inform about the achievements in the construction process of Dong Ha city.
Accordingly, from August 8, 2024, Dong Ha city is a type II urban area, directly under Quang Tri province. Dong Ha city is the political, economic, cultural and social center of Quang Tri province, located at the intersection of National Highway 1 connecting Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City and the East-West trans-Asian road system connecting Thailand - Laos - Myanmar with countries in the region.
Currently, Dong Ha city consists of 9 wards, total area of 73.09 km2, population of 164,228 people, of which permanent population is 102,478 people, converted population is 61,750 people.
In December 2005, Dong Ha was recognized as a type III urban area by the Ministry of Construction. In August 2009, Dong Ha was recognized as a provincial city by the Government.
With the advantage of being the commercial, service and industrial center of the province, the city's facilities and technical infrastructure are constantly being invested and developed, making the urban face change rapidly.
At the press conference, Mr. Le Quang Chien - Secretary of Dong Ha City Party Committee said that the locality has planned to organize a ceremony to announce Dong Ha city as a type II urban area. At this ceremony, there will be fireworks and the organization will be quite grand.
However, storms No. 3 and No. 4 have caused damage in the northern and north central provinces, so the leaders of Dong Ha city have discussed again. Accordingly, the announcement ceremony will be held as planned, but on a moderate scale. And no fireworks will be held, but the funds will be used to visit policy families, poor households or build works to serve the people.
It is known that Dong Ha city has mobilized 350 million VND from the community to set off fireworks on the occasion of the anniversary. This amount is currently being balanced and planned to visit, give gifts to the beneficiaries and build necessary works.
