As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, the fierce fire at the parking lot at the foot of Vinh Tuy Bridge (Hong Ha Ward, Hanoi) that occurred at noon on August 30 burned down hundreds of vehicles, causing public attention to the legality of this parking lot.
Regarding the legality of the parking lot, a leader of Hong Ha ward said that the area where the fire occurred "had an operating license". However, up to now, the authorities have not been able to evaluate with the naked eye, and need to wait for the inspection results from the specialized units.
According to Mr. Pham Viet Hung - Vice Chairman of Hong Ha Ward People's Committee, since the merger of the two-level government, the ward has never licensed any parking lot, including the parking lot that had just caught fire.
According to Mr. Hung, if the parking lot had a license, it was likely issued by the old ward government. The locality is urgently reviewing all previous licensing documents and clarifying related responsibilities.
Immediately after the incident, Mr. Tran Huu Bao - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction - said that the department's professional units were present at the scene to inspect. On August 31, the Department of Construction will meet with the Vinh Tuy Bridge management unit and the supervision consultant to assess the fire in detail, and listen to proposed solutions.
It is known that previously, the Department of Construction also sent a document to vehicle parking units in the area, requesting strict implementation of regulations on fire prevention and fighting.
