On June 5, Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province - said that the locality had just recorded a case of streptococcal infection.
Immediately after the Provincial Center for Disease Control confirmed the test results, the Department directed the Sub -Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary to coordinate with relevant units to conduct epidemiological investigations, environmental treatment and traceability of food -related foods. At the same time, the prevention and control of epidemics has been implemented urgently throughout the area.

According to the Department's leaders, streptococcal infection is a dangerous infectious disease that not only causes damage to pigs but also carries a high risk of transmission to humans, especially through direct contact with sick pigs or eating undercooked meat.
Streptococcus suis bacteria are pathogens that can enter the respiratory tract, secretions or open wounds when treating sick pigs. In pigs, the disease is often manifested through symptoms such as: high fever, loss of appetite, arthritis, difficulty walking, meningitis, loss of balance, cough and shortness of breath.

In order to reduce the risk of spreading, the authorities recommend that people regularly disinfect barns and livestock tools periodically, keeping the environment dry and clean. Only buy breeding pigs from reputable establishments, ensuring that they do not carry pathogens. Monitor the health of the pigs regularly, quarantine them promptly if there are unusual signs. Implement vaccination according to the correct procedure, periodically check the health of livestock. Absolutely do not eat raw or undercooked pork. When preparing pork, you should wear gloves and wash your hands after contact.
In particular, if there are signs of fever, headache, or infection after contact with pigs or there are suspicions related to streptococcus Cervical disease, people should quickly contact the nearest veterinary facility or health station for specific instructions.

Previously, Soc Trang General Hospital received a case of a patient with streptococcal infection. According to the patient's family, this person is a housewife, preparing food for the family every day. A few days before getting sick, the patient cooked bones and pork bought at An Nghiep Industrial Park market.
According to the hospital, after 2 weeks of treatment, the patient's health has stabilized.
