At the left bank of the Lo River, through Duc Bac Commune, Song Lo District, Vinh Phuc Province, due to the impact of natural disasters, from 2021 to present, many landslides have occurred, directly affecting the dike works, river banks, infrastructure, traffic, irrigation and the lives of households in the area.
During the recent storm season, the landslide spread widely with a length of about 700 m of the eroded riverbank, 20 - 30 m deep towards the foot of the dike, with an estimated area of 2 ha of affected agricultural land.
Song Lo District People's Committee has coordinated with relevant departments and branches to inspect the actual status of landslides, agree on the necessity of investing in an embankment to protect agricultural land and the left dike of Lo River, and propose the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee for consideration and approval.
After inspecting the landslide on the left bank of the Lo River, Vice Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee Vu Viet Van assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to assess the cause of the landslide, review the authority to manage the dike, and propose solutions.
At the same time, the People's Committee of Song Lo district was assigned to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to closely monitor the incident, promptly implement immediate measures to handle landslides according to the "4 on-site" motto, strengthen propaganda and warning work, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper had many articles reflecting on the continuous erosion of the Lo River bank, causing many alluvial areas of households cultivating along the riverbank in Duc Bac commune, Song Lo district, Vinh Phuc province to be washed away. Recently, the erosion phenomenon has become increasingly serious, causing great damage to crops, posing many potential risks to the safety of people's lives.
