On the morning of February 20, Hue City Police said that in 6 days of Tet (from the 27th of Tet to the 3rd of Tet), there were 4 traffic accidents in the city at inter-village and inter-commune routes, killing 3 people.
Faced with the above situation, the city police mobilized maximum forces, deployed patrols and closed-loop controls in the area, and focused on strictly handling violations, especially the alcohol concentration topic, to ensure traffic order and safety.
According to records, before, during and after Tet, the traffic volume on rural roads increased sharply. Meanwhile, many inter-village and inter-commune roads have narrow road surfaces, lack of lighting systems and signs, posing a risk of accidents.
Notably, the situation of using alcohol and beer while driving still occurs. Some young people gather to drive at high speed, swerving, zigzagging, revving engines, not wearing helmets, causing insecurity and disorder.
Implementing the peak period to ensure traffic order and safety, the Traffic Police Department of the City Police organizes mobile patrols combined with establishing checkpoints at key routes and border areas, operating day and night, especially from 6 pm to dawn.
In 6 days, functional forces discovered and made records of 717 violations, temporarily detaining 261 vehicles. Most violations were related to alcohol concentration, speed, carrying more people than prescribed and potentially high-risk errors causing accidents.
In parallel with handling violations, the city police strengthen propaganda in residential areas and schools; recommend people not to drive vehicles after using alcohol and beer and choose safe transportation options.
In the coming time, functional forces will continue to maintain specialized working groups, strengthen inspections at night, on holidays, weekends and coordinate with localities to overcome inadequacies in rural transport infrastructure, contributing to ensuring people's safe travel.
