On the morning of February 24, in an exchange with reporters, Mr. Hoang Van Dong - Chairman of Tra Linh Commune People's Committee - confirmed the serious traffic accident that occurred on the afternoon of February 23 in the commune.
According to Mr. Dong, at about 4 pm yesterday, a collision occurred between a car and two young children riding an electric motorbike. This morning, local authorities contacted and visited the families of the victims.
One child has a broken leg and is being treated at a local hospital. The other child has multiple injuries and has been transferred to Hanoi for further treatment," Mr. Dong said.
Images from cameras of people's houses along the road show that at about 4:46 pm on February 23, in the area of Tong Mong hamlet (Tra Linh commune), a black car moving at high speed, suddenly encroached on the opposite lane and crashed directly into two young children driving electric motorbikes.
The strong collision caused one child to be thrown high and then fall to the road surface, the other child lay motionless. Notably, after the collision, the car continued to move, dragging the electric motorbike and then plunging into the drainage ditch along the road.
Information from Tra Linh Commune Police said that the unit has received the case and is handling it according to the procedure for resolving denunciations and reports of crimes.
At the time of the accident, the driver of the car had alcohol in his system" - a representative of Tra Linh Commune Police informed.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by functional agencies for handling according to the provisions of law.
