From today (August 21), the N4 bridge branch belonging to package XL10, An Phu intersection construction project, is officially put into operation.
Branch N4 is located at the intersection between Mai Chi Tho and Dong Van Cong, organized for one-way traffic with two lanes. After opening to traffic, vehicles from Dong Van Cong can go straight up the bridge, towards An Phu intersection and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway access road.
Previously, vehicles in this direction had to move through intersections under the road surface at the same time as many other traffic flows. When the number of vehicles increases, drivers have to slow down, observe and wait to continue their journey.
Putting the N4 branch into operation helps vehicles have a separate elevated direction, thereby reducing the number of vehicles concentrated in the intersection area below.
Recorded on August 21, traffic through the N4 branch area was quite clear. Because the new road was put into use, the number of vehicles was not large and some drivers still stopped to observe the traffic signs and get used to the direction of movement.
Mr. Tran Tuan, residing in Binh Hung Hoa ward, a container truck driver who regularly drives the Dong Van Cong - Mai Chi Tho route, said that what he saw most clearly was that the car did not have to spend much time at the intersection area. "Today, I tried driving through branch N4, it felt more convenient. The car goes straight up the bridge, passes the intersection area and then goes down the road. If later the number of cars is large and you can still travel like that, it will save quite a lot of time," Mr. Tuan said.
An Phu intersection currently connects many important traffic routes such as Mai Chi Tho, Dong Van Cong, the access road to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway and towards Cat Lai port. This is also an area that regularly has a large volume of cars, trucks and container trucks circulating.
According to the new traffic organization plan, branch N4 takes over the direction from Dong Van Cong to Mai Chi Tho, while branch N3 in the opposite direction, from Mai Chi Tho turning left into Dong Van Cong to Cat Lai, has been open to traffic since May.
The addition of the N4 branch helps to organize the two traffic directions more clearly, reducing the situation of vehicles gathering in one intersecting area.
Branch N4 has a route length of 467.87m, of which the bridge section is 370m long, the bridge deck is 9-10.1m wide. The project was started on February 19, 2024, with a construction value of more than 111.7 billion VND.
Having a separate direction from Dong Van Cong to An Phu has given drivers more choices and reduced a waiting point when passing through the intersection area.
