On the evening of October 18, implementing the order of the Director of the Traffic Police Department, the Highway Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Department 6, Traffic Police Department) simultaneously deployed alcohol concentration checks for drivers on the expressways of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao and Cam Lam - Nha Trang.
At 7:53 p.m. the same day, the working group on duty at Km15 of the Nha Trang - Cam Lam Expressway discovered that driver Chu Quoc Anh T. (born in 1997, residing in Hoa Cuong Ward, Da Nang City) was driving a car with an alcohol concentration exceeding the prescribed level.
The measurement results showed that driver T had 0.469 milligrams of alcohol/1 liter of breath, exceeding the prescribed threshold of 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath.
According to Decree 168/ND-CP, violators will be fined from 30 million to 40 million VND, have their driving licenses revoked for 22 to 24 months and their vehicles temporarily impounded.
The authorities said that although regulations on penalties for alcohol concentration violations have been widely disseminated and the fine is also very strict, in reality, there are still many cases of intentional violations.
This shows that the awareness of "not driving after drinking alcohol" of a part of the people has not yet been clearly formed.
The Traffic Police Department said it will continue to maintain thematic inspections nationwide, especially on highways, to strictly handle violations, contributing to reducing accidents and ensuring traffic order and safety.
