On May 23, Lao Dong news source reported that the People's Committee of Tay Son district (Binh Dinh) issued a decision to temporarily suspend the work of Chairman of Tay Giang Commune People's Committee Ngo Luan, due to lax management, leading to illegal mineral exploitation in the area.
Mr. Ngo Luan was temporarily suspended from work for 15 days to review and clarify responsibilities related to illegal mineral exploitation activities in Tay Giang commune in the past.
According to the People's Committee of Tay Son district, recently, people have continuously reflected the situation of illegal mineral exploitation in this commune. Before the above reflection, the district directed the inspection and requesting the People's Committee of Tay Giang commune to organize the review and reporting of the incident. However, the implementation process of the commune authorities is considered to be serious, not implementing the direction.
Through a surprise inspection, the authorities discovered signs of illegal mineral exploitation activities and mechanical means for exploitation at the scene.
"The district has established a working group to verify and clarify the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals. The temporary suspension of Mr. Ngo Luan is to ensure the verification process is objective and clear," said the leader of Tay Son District People's Committee.
The leader of Tay Son District People's Committee said that illegal mineral exploitation is currently broke out in the area, and it is necessary to promptly handle it to set an example and restore order in resource management.
The case is currently being further investigated and clarified by the authorities.
