On May 25, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a document on temporarily suspending mineral exploitation activities at the stone mine in Cam Tu commune of Anh Tuan Co., Ltd., after a labor accident that killed 3 people.

Previously, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee received an official letter from the Department of Agriculture and Environment requesting to temporarily suspend mineral exploitation activities at the limestone mine for ordinary construction materials in Cam Tu commune.
After consideration, the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested Anh Tuan Co., Ltd. to temporarily suspend mining activities in the limestone mine area for ordinary construction materials in Cam Tu commune, to coordinate with the Provincial Police, Department of Agriculture and Environment and relevant departments and units to investigate, verify, and clarify the cause of the accident that occurred on May 20.
At the same time, comprehensively inspect the compliance with legal regulations on mineral exploitation activities, labor safety, and environmental protection in the mine area of the unit.
After having the conclusion on the cause of the accident and the results of the comprehensive inspection of the mine area, Anh Tuan Co., Ltd. urgently rectifies violations if any, and reports to the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee through the Department of Agriculture and Environment for consideration of resuming mining.
The Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Police to coordinate and provide the results of the investigation and verification of the cause of the above accident to the Department of Agriculture and Environment for handling or advising on handling violations if any, according to their authority.
Cam Tu Commune People's Committee is assigned to monitor and supervise the implementation of the above direction; ensure security and order, social safety in the area; be responsible before the law and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee if illegal mineral exploitation activities occur at the quarry during the temporary suspension of operations.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, at about 5 pm on May 20, a serious landslide occurred at the foot of a mountain belonging to the stone mining area of Anh Tuan Co., Ltd. (Cam Tu commune, Thanh Hoa province).
At the time of the incident, Mr. Lo Van T., (born in 1986), Lo Van Q. (born in 1989) and Nguyen Van N. (born in 1988, all residing in Lao Cai province), were working at the foot of the rocky mountain when a large amount of soil and rock suddenly slid down from above.
The incident caused Mr. Lo Van T. to die on the way to the hospital, and the remaining 2 victims went missing. By the morning of May 21, the bodies of 2 victims, Mr. Lo Van Q. and Mr. Nguyen Van N., were found by functional forces.
