On the evening of June 26, speaking with Lao Dong, the leader of Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee (Binh Dinh Province) said that the authorities and local people had found the bodies of 3 drowning students while swimming in the river in Phuoc Thang Commune.
"The local authorities have handed over the bodies to their families for funeral arrangements. At the same time, officers were sent to visit, support, and express condolences to the victims' relatives," said the leader of Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee.
According to initial information, in the afternoon of the same day, a group of 5 students (while on summer vacation) went to the river area in Phuoc Thang commune to swim. While swimming, the 3 students unfortunately drowned and died.
The victims were secondary and high school students, born from 2009 to 2011, residing in Tuy Phuoc and Phu Cat districts. The identities of the students are being verified and clarified by the authorities.
According to the leader of Tuy Phuoc district, at the time of the incident, the river water was deep and flowing strongly, making it difficult for the search and rescue work.
