The Northern mountainous provinces transport connection project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Australian Government. The Prime Minister approved the project investment policy. The Ministry of Transport approved the investment project and assigned Project Management Board 2 as the investor.
The project has a total investment of about 6,000 billion VND, including 2 routes with a total length of about 200km.
The first route connects Lai Chau with Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, about 147km long.
The second route connects Nghia Lo (Yen Bai province) with Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, about 53km long, passing through Van Yen and Van Chan districts.
In particular, the route connecting Nghia Lo with Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway is divided into 3 main bid packages including XL-9, XL-10 and XL-11 with a total investment of nearly 1,300 billion VND, starting from June 2022.
Starting point at Km0+0.00, IC14 intersection of Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway (Km149+705).
The end point is at Km54+069.24, intersecting with National Highway 32 at Km209+500.
According to Lao Dong's report on September 26, the route connecting Nghia Lo with Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, from IC14 intersection to Dai Son commune center, Van Yen district, has been completed with 2 layers of asphalt concrete, convenient for traffic.
From Mo Vang commune to the intersection with National Highway 32, the contractor is concentrating and mobilizing a series of modern machines to complete the project on schedule.
Mr. Tran Van Hung (42 years old, Dai Son, Van Yen) said he hopes the final sections of the road will be completed soon, so that people's travel will be more convenient.
"The unfinished roads are very difficult to travel on, the mud mixed with gravel and rocks always makes the car tilt, very dangerous," said Mr. Hung.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the site clearance work for the route connecting Nghia Lo with Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway was divided into separate sub-projects implemented by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee from January 2021.
In recent times, the People's Committee of Yen Bai province has paid attention to and directed departments, branches and localities to speed up the implementation of site clearance work to soon complete the project on schedule.
For the sections that have been handed over, the construction output to date has reached about 72%. The investor is directing contractors to take advantage of favorable weather conditions to complete the construction of the sections before December 31, 2024.
"The Ministry of Transport is directing the investor to closely coordinate with localities to focus on resolving existing problems and difficulties, handing over the remaining sections in October; having solutions to speed up and strictly control construction progress, striving to complete the project in 2025, and soon put the route into operation," the Ministry of Transport stated.
