This afternoon, water pressure will be sufficient to restore normal water supply
On the morning of July 29, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Duong Dao Truong Tho, General Director of Gia Tan Water Supply Joint Stock Company, said that the plant has currently met about 90% of the clean water demand for people in the area.
According to Gia Tan Water Supply Joint Stock Company, the plant is currently supplying clean water to 31,127 customers in Long Khanh, Dinh Quan, Dau Giay, Dong Phu Binh Industrial Parks and partly to Dong Nai Water Supply Branches.
However, due to the low water level of Tri An Lake during the water receding season, the raw water source for clean water production is seriously affected, especially the phenomenon of algae developing strongly in the water intake area. This situation directly affects the exploitation and water treatment capacity of Gia Tan water plant.
On July 24-26, the water level of Tri An Lake was at an elevation of about 50.4 to 50.8m, the plant only operated 22,800-24,000m3/day and night. However, when algae developed and invaded the water intake area, the exploitation volume was only about 16,800m3/day and night. While the actual water demand is 31,000 - 35,000 m3/day and night, affecting the ability to stabilize water supply for people, agencies, schools, hospitals, businesses and production areas in the area.
In particular, on July 24 to July 26, the algae density increased, the company was forced to stop taking water and discharge the water in the treatment tanks to clean the system to ensure water quality after treatment according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health. This caused prolonged water supply interruptions on a large scale, seriously affecting the lives of people in the area.
Faced with the above difficulties, Gia Tan Water Supply Joint Stock Company has proposed to the People's Committee of Dong Nai City and the City Department of Construction to give opinions to Tri An Hydropower Company on temporarily regulating and limiting water discharge downstream, creating conditions to maintain the reservoir water level at an elevation of 52m or more during the peak period.
Representatives of Gia Tan Water Supply Joint Stock Company said that the flow at the plant exceeds sufficient capacity, is opening water to push out of the network, but there are still areas far from the water that have not yet risen in time, by this afternoon (July 29), water pressure will be sufficient to restore normal water supply to people.
Water plants need solutions to prevent moss and algae
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Huu Khanh Ngoc, Director of Tri An Hydropower Company, said that this year the water level from upstream is coming slowly, currently water is coming with a flow rate of about 900m3/s. Therefore, from now until the end of this week, the water level will rise to an elevation of 52m.
Mr. Ngoc also said that Gia Tan plant must have technical solutions to prevent moss and algae in the water intake area operated by Tri An hydropower reservoir for multi-purpose operation, and also related to inter-reservoir operation procedures, energy security... currently Tri An hydropower plant is also in the rainy and flood season, the hydropower plant is running and storing water, avoiding excessive discharge causing waste.
Representatives of Gia Tan Water Supply Joint Stock Company added that they are implementing a plan to build a new pumping station to take deeper water, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The Department of Construction of Dong Nai City requested Gia Tan Water Supply Joint Stock Company to immediately implement solutions to maintain stable water supply for people. At the same time, urgently implement solutions to renovate the raw water collection system from Tri An Lake to ensure water supply when the lake water level dries up in the dry season and due to climate change.
