On May 31, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung - Chairwoman of Tri An Ward People's Committee, Dong Nai City, said that more than 100 tons of caged fish (carp, silver carp...) on Tri An Lake died en masse, causing heavy damage to households.

After the incident occurred, the Tri An ward government mobilized specialized departments, military forces, grassroots security, neighborhood boards, and forest rangers of Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve to support people in picking up dead fish and bringing them ashore to protect the environment of the Tri An Lake area; collecting them for fish farmers to sell to units to make microbial fertilizer; reporting to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to send specialized officials to the scene to verify and clarify the phenomenon of mass fish deaths.
The Ward People's Committee has also coordinated with specialized agencies of the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take fish and water samples according to regulations.
Through actual inspection and initial records, the cause of fish deaths was determined to be due to weather factors, the appearance of early-season rains with heavy rainfall after a long period of hot weather.
The sudden changes in water environmental factors such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen content and water turmoil have caused fish to be environmentally shocked, affecting their health and leading to fish deaths in some fish cages on the lake.
Tri An Ward People's Committee reported and proposed that Dong Nai City People's Committee have solutions to support people affected by damage.

In the coming time, the Ward People's Committee will continue to coordinate with specialized agencies to monitor the situation, guide people to implement preventive and response measures, strengthen farming environment management, and promptly handle unexpected situations to limit damage to aquaculture farmers in the area.
