On the morning of June 7, the VH 734 ship from Song Tu Tay Island in Truong Sa District was dispatched to the Quang Ngai cruise ship in distress to to towing it to shore.
According to information from Song Tu Tay Island, on June 2, the island force received a distress signal from fishing boat QNg 96318 TS captained by Mr. Duong Thuan (born in 1975, residing in Ly Son District, Quang Ngai Province).
The ship had a broken engine and lost mobility while anchored in an area about 35 nautical miles southeast of the island.
On board were 12 crew members, the ship departed for seafood exploitation from May 16.
Upon receiving the information, the island commander reported to superiors and contacted the Central region's Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center and fishing vessels operating nearby to support towing the ship in distress.
On the evening of June 4, fishing boat QNg 96668 TS approached the distressed boat and towed it back to the island.
However, due to the influence of large waves, the two ships could only anchor about 2 nautical miles from the island.
By this morning, the island's forces had received and brought the QNg 96318 TS ship and some crew members to the Song Tu Tay island gate area.
The authorities on the island are supporting the inspection and repair of the vehicle so that the boat can soon continue its fishing journey.
Timely rescue and support for fishermen not only helps ensure the safety of life and property but also clearly demonstrates the strong support role of the forces on the frontline island, contributing to affirming sovereignty and supporting fishermen to go offshore and stay at sea for a long time.
