A cargo ship of more than 24,000 tons has been towed away from the stranded position by two tugboats and brought to a safe anchorage in Hue sea.

On September 13, Mr. Huynh Van Toan - General Director of Chan May Port Joint Stock Company - said that the cargo ship STAR CITY has been pulled out of its stranded position in Binh An sea area, Chan May Bay (Hue City).

At the scene, two tugboats were arranged to tie ropes to the STAR CITY ship and pull it towards the sea. After being pulled, the cargo ship gradually moved and escaped from the shoal.

The STAR CITY ship was then brought to a safe anchorage location. Functional agencies will inspect the hull, machinery and maritime safety conditions before allowing the ship to continue its journey.

Previously, the ship owner hired two tugboats including Quang Da, with a capacity of 3,263 horsepower and Chan May 2, with a capacity of 1,800 horsepower to implement the rescue plan.

Previously, as Lao Dong newspaper reported, on the evening of September 12, Mr. Huynh Van Toan said that the STAR CITY ship, with a tonnage of more than 24,000 tons, drifted and ran aground in the Chan May - Lang Co sea area. Functional forces tried to approach at night but could not deploy rescue due to big waves and strong winds.
