Phu Quoc - Ha Tien ferry resumes operation after 5 days of suspension

NGUYÊN ANH |

After 5 days of suspension of trains and ferries to Phu Quoc, today, passengers can leave the island by train or ferry on the Phu Quoc - Ha Tien route.

On September 19, trains and ferries from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien and vice versa were allowed to operate again. However, the Rach Gia to Phu Quoc, Nam Du (and vice versa) trip is still suspended pending further notice.

Thus, after 5 days of having to temporarily suspend all flights due to bad weather and strong winds, today, passengers have taken the opportunity to return to the mainland or return to Phu Quoc.

Mr. Tran Van Tam, a passenger traveling from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien, said that in the past few days, after finishing work in Phu Quoc, the weather was bad, the train and ferry were not running, so he was stuck in Phu Quoc.

“Today, I was also anxiously waiting to see if the train and ferry would run again. This morning, there was an announcement that they would not run, but later there was an announcement that they would run again. I am very happy that there is a trip to Ha Tien, and then I will go from there to Can Tho,” said Mr. Tam.

Ms. Phu Bich Van - owner of a ferry and train ticket agency in Phu Quoc - also said that the agency continuously updates the status of ferry and train operations to promptly post and notify passengers. In recent days, customers have called to ask about the operating schedule, when it will resume operations, and the agency also informed that due to bad weather, to ensure safety, the trips are still temporarily suspended. As soon as there is a new schedule, the agency immediately notifies passengers in need to buy tickets and get off the train in time.

Previously on September 15, Kien Giang Maritime Port Authority said that due to bad weather, gusts of wind at level 7 and level 8, the weather at sea turned bad, ferries from the mainland to Phu Quoc, Nam Du and vice versa temporarily suspended operations until further notice.
